To transform our children, families and communities through excellent, holistic early childhood education.
Our desire is to provide a high-quality preschool in DeKalb County that is focused on the education and support of the whole child. While our goal is kindergarten readiness, our focus is on developmentally healthy, appropriate, and effective approaches. It is essential that we consider the emotional, physical, academic, and social development of the child. Being a church, we will also address the spiritual development of the child in a developmentally appropriate way that is consistent with our Christian values but not intolerant of others.
St. Mark’s Early Learners embraces the rich philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori who believed in a child’s own natural desire to learn. She believed that young children have a universal ability to absorb knowledge from their surroundings just by living. She also understood that a child’s mind is most receptive during these early years and that each child learns and grows at an individual rate.
In order to be calm and happy, we believe children need to explore and discover. Our Montessori environment, both inside and outside, allows the child to move, touch, manipulate, and investigate. Our trained teachers, using unique Montessori materials, create an atmosphere where children feel secure and respected and are allowed to test themselves, take initiative and grow independently.
We are a faith-based school and as such we allow, support and incorporate Christian education as a part of our program. We utilize a Montessori-based approach, Godly Play, to help children interact with the stories of the Bible and the traditions of the Christian faith in a way that allows them to explore and discover.
“If you are looking for an excellent school, with a Montessori approach, I highly recommend St. Mark’s Early Learners in Auburn. My son Jackson has learned so much. When he started he was struggling to count, and even hold a pencil. He is now more confident, writing words, and learning to read.”
“St. Mark’s Early Learners Montessori School in Auburn is a new school that should be checked out if your looking for a good quality preschool. The director’s professionalism speaks for itself. She loves to teach and its obvious in the connections she makes in and out of the classroom. Her enthusiasm and pride in her students is vividly apparent with every lesson she teaches.”
“St. Mark’s Early Learners Montessori School has a dedicated, professional director who always seems to have her students best interest in mind. She has the ability to help her students develop a strong sense of independence, self-confidence, and discipline.”
